When preparing for a session with our clients we often ask them to make a Pinterest board so we can get an idea for the vision they have in mind.  Rachel pinned several photos to her bridal board and I knew immediately the PERFECT location for her bridal session.  Off the Grid in Dallas.  Off the Grid is a historic Dallas Power and Light Substation that has been converted into a wedding and event venue.  It is a really unique location and it had the windows that would perfectly complete the vision Rachel had for her bridal session.

Once we knew that the weather was going to hold out on Saturday for Katie & Andrew’s engagement session at the Dallas Arboretum we were SUPER excited to finally get to hang out with these two.  We had a blast and we absolutely can’t wait until your classic, southern wedding in June at The Milestone!!!

We started out at White Rock Lake right next to the Arboretum so we could take a few photos with their sweet pups.  I’m pretty sure the dogs thought the photoshoot was ALL about them. 😉  They did an awesome job looking adorable for the camera, humans and dogs both!  katieandrewENG_photogfavs_001P I N this to pinterest

Then we headed over to the Dallas Arboretum for some classic, timeless, romantic engagement photos.  Katie and Andrew kept saying they weren’t sure what to do or how to pose, but as evidence shows they DO know what they are doing. 😉  Both did an amazing job of posing and we only directed them a little.  Most of the good-lookingness was ALL them.katieandrewENG_photogfavs_005P I N this to pinterest

This post is at least 5+ years in the making!  Well, technically longer than that.  You see, Jill is one of my closest friends.  Our girls have grown up together since age 1 and they just happen to be very best friends also!  Jill and I have plotted to do a “real” family photoshoot for her family for years and years now and somehow we’ve just never gotten around to actually doing it.  Well, this time we agreed we would meet for lunch, get out the calendar and put it on the schedule for REAL and that’s exactly what we did!  I’m so very, very honored that we got to do this shoot for this sweet family.  The kids were amazing and giggly and as sweet as ever and my heart just breaks into a million tiny little pieces (in a good way) when they say “I LOVE Miss Cindy!”  I love these children as if they were my own.  I mean LOOK at those sweet faces.  How could you not be in love at first sight?!amabile2013_photogfavs-9P I N this to pinterest

This girl, THIS girl……..She is my daughter, Mia’s, very best friend.  I just pray that they will always value their friendship and realize that sometimes silly things like boys, mean girls and competition can get in the way of a friendship, but that REAL, TRUE and HONEST friendship is something that not everyone has and that they are so very lucky to have found each other at such a young age.  I have to say that I am extremely blessed that Mia and I got a two-fer in friendship.  Michaela is such a good friend, because she has an excellent role model in her mommy and there are a few days that I couldn’t have survived without her friendship.  So blessed!!!

Last year Saylor and I had family portraits done and my favorite part of the session was when we got to do photos of just the two of us together.  It made me feel all giddy and giggly and remember who we were back when we first got married.  That feeling is exactly what I wanted to gift to my sweet friend Jill.  The photos are great and a wonderful memory for them to display in their beautiful new home, but what I REALLY wanted to give her was that feeling.  Nailed it! 😉  As long as I’ve know this couple I’ve never seen this side of them together and it made my heart SO happy.  SOOOOOO happy! amabile2013_photogfavs-17P I N this to pinterestSo, since you know kids can never allow parents to have snuggle time without them included I loved that as soon as I snapped the photo above THIS happened……………..

Thank you for sharing these. The Amabiles are such a sweet family! They were such good friends when we lived in that area and we miss them terribly. Congratulations on capturing such fantastic pictures of this family. I know they will treasure them.

  • Jill Amabile

You are such an awesome friend! Thank you!

This awesome couple actually lives out of state so our first meeting with Kelly and Shane was over a year ago via Facetime.  I couldn’t get the laptop to work so we Facetimed on my phone.  Saylor and I squeezed together onto the little screen and we virtually hung out with these two for over an hour.  When we we got off the phone I turned to him and said “If they don’t hire us I’m going to cry!”  I’m so glad they did choose to hire us, because they have been an absolute dream to work with.  Ultra organized and thoughtful, Kelly and Shane made us feel like part of the family the whole day!

So, this fall’s wedding season has been a bit of a rainy one, but we lucked out yet again and the rain had let up once we arrived at The Milestone on the big day.  We only felt a few sprinkles during portraits and other than that the rain gave us a break.  THANK GOODNESS, because the outside portraits of these two were my favorite part of the day.  Check out Kelly and Shane’s gorgeous day at The Milestone. photos by Cindy & Saylor PhotographersP I N this to pinterest

So, you probably know how much heritage and family heirlooms mean to us so I was really interested in the details below.  On the left, are the coins used in Kelly & Shane’s coin ceremony.  A coin ceremony is a Filipino wedding tradition where the groom drops silver coins into the bride’s hands signifying his promise to take care of his wife materially.  These particular silver coins were provided by Kelly’s parents and they all had a special significance.  Her father has been collecting them throughout her lifetime.  Some of them were even used in her parents own coin ceremony.

The pocket watch on the right is the gift that Kelly gave to Shane before the ceremony.  The watch belonged to his grandfather.  Isn’t it beautiful?  The simplest objects become so much more beautiful when there is history and meaning attached to them.

I have been waiting for a year, yes that’s a WHOLE YEAR, to share these bridal images with you!! Kelly married the man of her dreams on Sunday so I can finally post these bridals of the beautiful Kelly at The Milestone in Denton, Texas.  Kelly is so much fun and totally relaxed and laid back.  She was up for anything and I just love when brides trust me.  “What? Climb up on that rock in my expensive wedding gown and heels and it’s about to start pouring rain?  SURE, why not?!”  Thanks, Kelly, for being SO awesome and organized!  You have been amazing and SO MUCH FUN to work with.  You make my job super easy and I just feel like the luckiest photographer in the world to have clients as awesome as you. 😉

If you think Kelly looks gorgeous in her bridal portraits check back on the blog first thing this Friday for the big blog post of Kelly and Shane’s wedding day.  It’s going to be a good one!!Bridal session at the milestone in denton texas, photos by Cindy & SaylorP I N this to pinterest
