I’m not sure even where to begin to tell you how much we LOVE this couple!!  We first met with Lynn and John back in April and we hit it off instantly.  We had dinner with them at our first meeting and it felt like we were hanging out with old friends.  Two hours had passed before we knew it and we had barely even talked about their wedding!  I love when that happens. 😉

I know I’ve said this before, but I’m always a little sad when a client’s wedding day comes because that means we won’t have an excuse to communicate as often, but I’m always SO happy for them that it outweighs that little bit of sadness.  When December 13th, 2014 dawned I couldn’t WAIT to see this amazing couple.  The weather was absolute perfection.  60 degrees and sunny in December? I’ll take it!  Not to mention that the entire week before and for several days after it was cloudy and rainy.  It was like God put a beautiful day right there in the middle of icky winter just for Lynn and John to wed.

as friends.

You won’t be able to tell it from the photos (because Lynn is a rockstar bride and fabulous in front of the camera) but it was COLD the day we did this bridal session.  Like 32 degrees COLD!  I was bundled up in a sweater, gloves, ear warmer and parka behind the camera.  It was unbelievable how Lynn was able to pull it off with out looking like she was freezing.  Doesn’t it look like it’s the middle of the summer?!  We have the BEST clients ever. 😉

Since Lynn & John tied the knot recently I’m so excited to share with you her bridal portraits.  Check back later in the week for a post featuring their gorgeous wedding in Aubrey! bridal session at dallas arboretum with pink flowersP I N this to pinterestBridal portraits with hot pink, light pink bouquet at the dallas arboetumP I N this to pinterestbride with garden gates in dallas at the arboretumP I N this to pinterestbridal photo portraits at dallas arboretum in the fallP I N this to pinterestbride in front of rocks and waterfall at the dallas arboretumP I N this to pinterestdallas arboretum bridal photosP I N this to pinterestbride wearing cowboy boots at dallas arboretumP I N this to pinterest

The Hilton’s are a VERY special family to us.  They have been good friends of ours for many years and also great clients.  We even photographed their youngest’s newborn portraits WAY back when I was shooting tons of newborn sessions.  Needless to say we LOVE this family and their session was a blast.  Just as every time we spend with them is. 😉

After, weather and sicknesses forced us to reschedule multiple times we finally got to capture this wonderful family out at Arbor Hills Nature preserve in Plano.  Enjoy a peek at a few of our favorites from their session!pink and grey plano family portraits at arbor hills nature preserveP I N this to pinterestpink and grey plano family portraits at arbor hills nature preserveP I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-57P I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-64P I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-92P I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-100P I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-133P I N this to pinterestpink and grey plano family portraits at arbor hills nature preserveP I N this to pinteresthiltonfam2014-223P I N this to pinterestfamily portrait silhouette at sunset on hillP I N this to pinterest

We have anticipated Devon and Jason’s big day for well over a year now and it was everything we had hoped it would be. Gorgeous details, thoughtful, heartfelt personal touches,  a wonderful bride and groom and their sweet family to celebrate with them.  It was a perfect day! Devon and Jason put a lot of thought into incorporating personal touches into every aspect of their wedding.  From giraffes to forks to Dallas Stars trivia at each place setting, at every turn there was a detail that help some meaning for the couple.  Of course, the best part of the day was where these two became man & wife.  Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Beck!

We also had the pleasure of having a third photographer help us out for the day and we had a blast with Jamie.  She was awesome and captured a lot of the details for us.  I’m totally spoiled now and am not sure how I will be able to shoot without her. 😉burlap sign welcome to wedding sign in the foyer of the milestoneP I N this to pinterestwooden heart signature guest boxP I N this to pinterestwooden heart guest signature box and game plan wedding sign in the foyer of the milestone in krum texasP I N this to pinterestbridal bouquet with burlap wrap, giraffe pin, and sorority pins and brides boots with dallas stars garterP I N this to pinterest

So, one of my VERY FAVORITE things about this wedding was that Devon wore a vintage Chantilly lace bridal gown that had been passed down from her mother AND her grandmother.  Yes, three generations have worn the same dress on their wedding day. Make sure to read a little more about it in my post from Devon’s bridal session.3 generations of women wearing the same wedding dress a passed down family heirloomP I N this to pinterestbrides heirloom dress with bottle of perfume in the brides room at the milestoneP I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_006P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_007P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_008P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_009P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_010P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_011P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_017P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_018P I N this to pinterestWe also LOVED the boutonnieres worn by the groom and his groomsmen (all made by the bride herself!)  Jason is a BIG Simpson’s fan so all of the boutonnieres had a character from the TV show on them.  Jason is such a big fan that his wedding ring even has an obscure quote from an early episode inscribed inside.  See….they thought of EVERY detail. 😉devonjasonWED_photogfavs_020P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_022P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_023P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_024P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_026P I N this to pinterestAgain, with the personal touches…..The brides bouquet featured a giraffee brooch (her obsession) and her sorority pins.  Her maid of honor’s (a sorority sister) bouquet had an anchor charm attached to represent Tri Sigma.bouquets in yellow and grey billy balls and succulentsP I N this to pinterestbride in front of the milestone in her grandmothers heirloom wedding dressP I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_030P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_031P I N this to pinterestdevonjasonWED_photogfavs_032P I N this to pinterestThis was a tradition I had never heard of, but it’s one of my new favorites!  A ring warming ceremony.  Basically the couples wedding rings are placed in an area where friends and family can hold the ring and say a prayer for the couple, thus “warming” it with their prayers for the future.  It’s that the coolest thing?! I have a really special post for you this morning!  Remember Devon?  Well, she and Jason tied the know on October 11th so I can share a few of my favorites from her bridal session at Frisco Heritage Museum.  What makes this post really special, aside from the fabulous bride herself, is the dress.  Devon’s dress was worn by both her mom AND her grandmother.  Isn’t that the sweetest thing?!  When you see the post coming up soon about Devon’s wedding you will see that she incorporated many thoughtful, personal details, but my FAVORITE has to be this dress!  As you know, we love family heirlooms and traditions and the thought of three generations of women wearing the very same dress on their wedding day makes my heart happy.

I’m sure you are wondering how the same dress could possibly be on trend in three different decades….I know I was.  The answer is Becky Fowler.  Becky is the seamstress that took the dress passed down from mother to daughter to granddaughter and altered it fit Devon perfectly and also updated it for the current time period.  She altered the neckline and shoulders and the veil (which Devon opted to only wear on her wedding day).  I was really impressed with Devon’s dress and would like to give a shout out to her seamstress Becky Fowler from Originals to Alterations. Devon HIGHLY recommends her and Becky can be contacted at beckyfowler1@live.com or 972.986.8067.

So what kind of family heirlooms and traditions will you be incorporating into your wedding day?
