I’m not sure how to begin this post. I mean how to do write about one of the most beautiful and yet the most difficult weddings we’ve ever photographed? This one was a CHALLENGE to say the least. If you haven’t noticed we’ve had a little rain recently in Texas. That’s putting it mildly. We have had record setting rain recently in Texas and crazy tornado, thunder storms and all the other weirdness that comes with Texas weather in the spring. ALL of those things were in the forecast when we awoke on Chanda & Taylor’s wedding day. To top it all off I woke up sick as a dog with no voice whatsoever. As we packed the car and headed to Weatherford to Clark Gardens I said more than a few prayers to just “PLEASE let this day go smoothly, and give me strength to make it through the day without coughing my head off” Amen.
The day started off with photographing the girls. The location they were supposed to get ready in was flooded and inaccessible so they got upgraded to a pretty awesome house on the property, BUT it was all the way on the other side so we had to trek back and forth. Did I mention it was pouring rain? This moment was so special! Chanda’s Dad coming to see her in her dress for the first time. I have never seen a father of the bride work SO hard to make his daughter’s day so perfect. He was amazing trekking back and forth in the rain and running errands and making sure everyone had anything they needed. Good job Dad!Then we headed over to hang with the guys for a bit. Notice the water drops everywhere!Best gift from a groom to a bride EVER! Taylor had a bracelet made for Chanda in his own handwriting. Awesome! This photo is one of my favorites! What you can’t see is there is a very intense discussion going on between us, the bride & groom, the venue coordinator and several of the bridesmaids about WHERE the ceremony should be. It was still raining and it was just minutes from time for the ceremony to begin. Should we move to the chapel? Should we move to the reception tent? Should we get soaked and just do it outside?! At LITERALLY the last second we decided that a light drizzle was fine and the ceremony would go on as planned in the channel garden. The guests had umbrellas and there was water everywhere, but it was only a light sprinkle when the ceremony began. Then an actual miracle occurred that brought tears to my eyes….seriously, I’m not being dramatic, as the bride walked down the aisle the SUN came out and the skies where blue. It never rained another drop the rest of the night. The ceremony was perfect. One of my favorites ever. 🙂OH that light!!! Like a crazy person, I’m sure I said how pretty the light was a million times that night, but it was unreal. Such a beautiful evening!Favorite!!!The guys of Alpha-Chi serenaded the girls of Kappa (It’s an LCU thing) and it made me seriously a little homesick for college. Congratulations Chanda and Taylor. Fate brought us together and we were honored to witness your wedding day. Much love to you both!
