Sweet Baby.

I’m not sure how we became friends. We are COMPLETE opposites. I can’t even really remember how we met….it was at church, but I don’t remember the exact first meeting. I think the truth is that God knew we both needed a friend. You know, the kind of friend that is there for you when you REALLY need one. The ‘call when you are upset or when you are bored or when you have a last minute emergency kind of friend’. Jill has certainly been that friend for me for the past few years. She has bailed me out when I needed a last minute babysitter almost EVERY SINGLE TIME! She listens quietly as I rattle on and on about (fill in the blank). So when she called me a couple of weeks ago and asked “are you up for ONE more newborn session?” Of course, I said YES!! I don’t really shoot newborn sessions anymore, but I LOVE newborns. Love their little toes and sweet, soft skin, but taking photos of them is HARD work. A wedding is a breeze compared to a newborn session. However, last week I braved it to honor my friend and think it was totally worth the effort! Meet beautiful Natalee.... Read full post

LaToya + Tony :: Engaged!!

LaToya’s email to us started with “I have been following your blog for over a year and have concluded that your pictures are priceless and I would be forever grateful if you guys were able to take our photos.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I mean, REALLY? Someone besides my mom is reading my blog?!!! I can’t think of a better complement than this one. Thank you LaToya! It seriously makes all the long hours of editing worth it. I LOVE THIS JOB!! I had to restrain myself to keep from hugging you when we finally met in person at your session. By the end of the session I felt like Saylor and I had some new friends! You guys were so much fun and we had a blast hanging out.... Read full post

Must keep reading.

I read every night before I go to sleep. If I don’t have a book, I feel a little panicky because I know I won’t be able to sleep well that night. Reading shuts my mind off. I stop thinking about all the worries of the day as I get immersed in someone ELSE’S worries and drama. I’ve always been an avid reader. In high school I read on the bus to and from school. I spent most of our family vacations reading. I was ALWAYS reading. In college, I majored in what else….English. It was somewhere around this time that I began to get tired of reading. After all, when you are assigned to read 7 novels in the course of a semester for just ONE of 3 literature courses it does tend to get old. I never really caught the reading bug again until about two years ago. Now, it’s every night before I go to sleep, unless it’s a really juicy novel, then just TRY and rip it out of my hands. My whole life will fall apart until that book is finished.... Read full post
